ᐅᑳᐄᐧᒫᐤ is cree for “mother”. The four directions are very significant in the life of indigenous people, it signifies many things, but it in this instance I referenced a meaning that regards to the indigenous understanding of cyclical time and the different stages of life. In particular moving from the youthful discovery stage of life to the responsibility of parenthood.
This was a personal project that was created for my wife on her birthday, after we recently found out she was pregnant with our first-born son.
